1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, accessing, or using the Roam application (“the App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the App.

2. About Roam

Roam is a language immersion platform for learning French. The App gives learners access to authentic video content from native speakers, with tools to save vocabulary, track progress, and build a personal library of words and phrases through spaced-repetition review.

3. User Accounts

To use Roam you must create an account with your name, email address, and a password. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and for all activity that occurs under it. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account at hello@roamlang.com.

All video content, captions, speaker recordings, branding, and design elements within the App are the property of Roam or its content contributors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any content without our prior written permission.

6. Your Data

When you use Roam, we collect personal and usage data including your name, email address, date of birth, watch history, saved vocabulary, review progress, and Daily Roam results. This data is used solely to provide and improve the Roam service. We do not sell your data to third parties.

By using the App you consent to this data collection in accordance with our Privacy Policy. As a UK-based company we comply with UK GDPR.

7. Subscription & Payment

Roam requires a paid subscription. Access to the App’s content is unlocked by an auto-renewing subscription purchased as an in-app purchase through Apple.

Plans and pricing

Two subscription plans are available:

Prices are shown in the App at the point of purchase and may vary by region according to your App Store storefront. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.

Free trial

Both plans include a 7-day free trial with full access to the App. Your subscription begins immediately, and your Apple ID account will be charged the plan price when the trial ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the trial period. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription. Free trial eligibility is determined by Apple and is generally limited to new subscribers.

Auto-renewal and cancellation

Subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your App Store account settings (Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions). If you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for; cancellation does not entitle you to a refund for the current period.

Refunds

Purchases are processed by Apple, and refunds are handled by Apple under the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com. If you are in the UK or EU, you may have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal from the date of purchase; this right is exercised through Apple.

Restoring purchases

If you reinstall the App or switch devices, use Restore purchases (on the paywall or in Account settings) to regain access with the same Apple ID.

Price changes

We may change subscription prices from time to time. Apple will notify you in advance of any price increase affecting your subscription and, where required, ask for your consent before it applies.

8. Video Content & Speakers

All individuals appearing in Roam video content have given their informed consent to be filmed and for their content to be used within the App for language learning purposes.

9. Disclaimer

Roam is an educational tool designed to support language learning. We make no guarantee of fluency or specific learning outcomes. Results will vary depending on individual effort and usage.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Roam shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you have paid to us in the twelve months preceding any claim.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms of Service, without prior notice.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
